Frauscher's vital and fail safe axle counting systems are simple in concept, installation and maintenance, while complex in the benefits they provide. Axle counting systems primarily provide “clear” or “occupied” status information for track sections.; however, Frauscher's modern systems also have the capability to deliver additional types of vital and non-vital information to the operator for further controls and benefits. Customized solutions are our specialty, working with integrators and operators to upgrade or replace current technology, or to explore new applications. The Frauscher Advanced Counter FAdC offers flexible design capabilities that provide a wide range of options for customized system configuration and architecture (centralized, decentralized or a combination of the two).
In conjunction with robust Frauscher wheel sensors, the FAdC system increases reliability and uptime over traditional train and wheel detection systems. Our sturdy IP68 rated wheel sensors (water and dust proof) are not affected by snow, flooding, leaf fall or road salt, or even electromagnetic interference - factors that frequently have a negative impact on traditional train detection technologies.
Frauscher axle counting systems can be connected to the interlocking via vital discreet I/Os, or a wide range of Ethernet protocols, including the Frauscher Safe Ethernet FSE. This provides an array of functional and diagnostic information that is required for safe and efficient operations.
Some of the many benefits of Frauscher axle counters include flexibility in system configuration, design and architecture, hardware and software interface, easy project management and low maintenance requirements. The flexible scalability and Ethernet-based software interface of the FAdC permit a wide range of configuration options, allowing for the operation of small, centralized systems as well as complex, larger scale projects. The amount of required space, power usage and overall investment are significantly reduced when compared to conventional systems. These benefits increase with project scale, thanks to state-of-the-art communication technologies.
Finally, self-correcting software based functions compatible with the fail-safe principle, such as Supervisor Track Sections and Counting Head Control, can significantly increase availability without additional equipment or cost.
