About Phoenix Railway Equipment
- Approved by the Association of American Railroads (AAR), the GRIP STRUT Safety Plate exceeds the Federal anti-slip requirements. It features a serrated surface to grab shoe soles tightly, providing slip-resistance in all directions. Large, diamond-shaped openings help keep snow, ice and mud off the surface to help prevent slippage. Our end platforms and brake steps are a one-piece design which helps prevent breakage or detachment from vibration or impact.
AAR certified Grip Strut with relief/round holes will be available starting November 17, 2014. 3, 4 and 5 diamond plank will now be offered with relief holes on the outside diamonds in plain and pre-galvanized 12 gauge steel. This offering will complement the existing aluminum, stainless steel and 14 gauge steel relief hole product offering. Relief holes help prevent tearing/cracking at the end of the diamond closest to the side channel. Tears/cracks can be an issue in high vibration environments, such as railcar applications.
Running boards, brake steps and end platforms are also available with our PERF-O GRIP round hole pattern. This design is light-weight and resilient making it easy to handle and install, as well as provide slip resistance in all directions.
